The Made Fest is back for its second year and we’ll be setting up shop! This year, the fest is TWO days. Yep, a two-day, outdoor curated marketplace featuring handmade artists, makers, and vintage sellers. Right here in Champaign.

Last year we brought you a mix of vintage goodies. This year, we’re super excited to debut The Cabin Collection—a curated set of vintage rustic items inspired by the great outdoors. The collection includes wool blankets, military bags, macrame, barware, globes and much, much more. As always, you can expect affordable, one-of-a-kind items with a lot of history. I love giving old pieces a new home!

Dear Home will also have a selection of new handmade items including our line of handmade vintage notebooks we debuted a few weeks ago at the Urban Outfitters Marketplace. The notebooks are made with discarded library books that were too damaged to stay on the shelves, and each one is unique using beautifully illustrated pages for the cover.

So mark your calendars, and stop on by Sat, Sept 27 and Sun, Sept 28 from 12—6pm at Main and Market in Downtown Champaign, IL.

dearhome_splog

We’re excited to announce the debut of our new line of handmade vintage notebooks this Saturday, from 10am-4pm as part of the Urban Outfitters, UO Marketplace!

Our handmade vintage notebooks are made using discarded library books that were too damaged to stay on the shelves. Each notebook is unique using beautifully illustrated pages for the cover. We’ll also have a mix of vintage pencils, staplers and clips for the office supply lover just in time for back to school.

Urban Outfitters, 507 E. Green St., is celebrating the local community by hosting UO Marketplace, featuring shops and creatives from the Champaign-Urbana area. This Saturday’s UO Marketplace will also feature Plant Mode, Neutral Cycle and the University of Illinois Metals Department.

Next stop: Vintage Karma

Dear Home is proud to announce that our vintage goods will soon be available to purchase at Vintage Karma in Tuscola, IL!

We met the awesome proprietors of Vintage Karma during our Haus + Home Holiday Popup Shop and it seemed like the perfect partnership. The atmosphere of their shop/tattoo parlor reflects the keen style of the owners. We feel right at home selling our vintage goodies in their store!

And to add to the excitement, Vintage Karma is throwing a Second Anniversary Party this Saturday, April 12th, where we’ll be debuting our items as part of the celebration! Stop on by for drinks, live music, giveaways and show your support for this great local business. For more info you can like Vintage Karma on Facebook and RSVP to the Anniversary Party.

Haus + Home: a Holiday Pop-Up Shop by Dear Home and NORDEN

Haus + Home, Holiday Pop-Up Shop

Check it out! Dear Home is branching out from online to storefront with Haus + Home, a 3-week Holiday Pop-Up Shop in collaboration with our friends at NORDEN!

We had a blast at The Made Fest in September (thanks to everyone who stopped by!) and we’re thrilled to be popping up in Downtown Urbana. We’ve partnered with NORDEN, an up-and-coming German design studio, and they’ve been a treat to work with. I fell in love with their aesthetic when I saw the beautiful pieces they make, and I think you will too.

We’ll be set up in the new [co][lab] space, selling a mixture of Dear Home’s stylish vintage goods and NORDEN’s simple, refined products for the home. And we’ll be adding new items every week, so watch us on Facebook and Twitter, and sign up for our email list.

It’s that time again! As I mentioned last year, I’ve been a long-time fan and attendee of the über cool Pygmalion Music Festival in Champaign, IL. But this year’s even better. How so? There’s a new addition to the festival: The Made Fest.

The Made Fest is a one-day, outdoor curated marketplace featuring handmade artists and vintage sellers. And guess what? Dear Home will be there setting up shop! This will be our first on location gig and we’ve been busy getting lots of vintage goodies together—industrial items, cameras, office supplies, housewares, barware, scouting pieces, worldly souvenirs, women and men’s clothing, shoes, accessories and much more!

So mark your calendars, and stop on by Saturday, September 28, from 11am—7pm at Main and Market in Downtown Champaign, IL.

Road Trip (Appalachia Here We Come!)

Happy Friday y’all! We’re packing up for our vacation to Gatlinburg, TN and Asheville, NC tomorrow. SInce we’ll be busy hikin’ it up in the Smoky Mountains and sittin’ back in downtown Asheville, our Etsy shop will be on vacation too. The shop will open back up when we return with lots of new items to come!

We’ll also be bringing our vintage goods to the Champaign-Urbana (C-U) Flea #3 on Saturday, Oct. 20 from 12-3. If you’re in the area, save the date. Have a great couple weeks!

Welcome to Dear Home!

Since I can remember, I’ve had an affinity for collecting—whether it be collecting physical things like a concert ticket, images through photography, or just really awesome stuff. I love surrounding myself with beautiful, interesting things that spark my inner curiosity. After years of collecting, I’ve reached a point where I’m knee-deep in stuff. I figure, it’s about time to let some things go to a new home. That’s one of the reasons I opened a vintage resale shop.

Introducing: Dear Home. As I find vintage modern treasures, I’ll be listing them on the Dear Home Etsy Shop. The shop will feature mid-century modern items, international pieces, ephemera, office supplies, kitchenware, knick-knacks, and lots more. I’d love for you to check out what’s in the shop now, with lots more coming soon!

Hunting for vintage goodies is always an adventure, and every adventure has a story to tell. The Dear Home Blog is my place to share these stories and ask you about yours. I’ll be sharing these adventures, new and left behind items, fab houses that I dream of, and more right here.

Here are some ways to stay connected with what’s going on at Dear Home:

I love chatting about anything and everything vintage, so feel free to send me an email at dearhomevintage@gmail.com to chat, or, if you have specific item requests. Here’s to the hunt!

I’m Christina, owner and curator of Dear Home. I live in the small, but fabulous city of Champaign, IL, and am proud of it! Besides being a collector, I’m a typography nut, fitness fanatic, and domestic architecture geek who loves to ponder the idea of home.
